Many people associate stretch marks only with pregnancy or being overweight, but this isn’t necessarily true. Children and teens sometimes get stretch marks as a result of rapid growth, and so do weight lifters (both men and women). That’s why so many people ask the question – ‘is there a way to eliminate stretchmarks? Here are the facts:
Skin is normally elastic like a rubber band. When a rubber band is stretched too far, though, it snaps. Similarly, when skin is stretched too far, it tears. Because the underlying layers of skin actually tear, then form a scar, it’s nearly impossible to eliminate stretch marks completely. However, the best stretch mark treatments can fade the scars, making them less obvious, and/or practically invisible.
One approach is to apply topical treatments, like creams, oils, or lotions, regularly. These creams contain ingredients that exfoliate, or remove dead outer skin layers, which helps to fade the scars.
Other merchants sell wonder treatments, made from combinations of creams and oils that claim to heal scarring and eliminate stretch marks completely. Of course, this doesn’t actually work 100%. If you buy a cream, make sure it includes a skin tightening agent, as well as the fading agent.
Medical treatments are also sometimes promoted to help eliminate stretchmarks. The most dangerous way to try this is abdominoplasty. This procedure involves the removal of a tiny amount of fat along with stretched skin on the stomach area. This usually helps only with persons who have just a little extra body fat and are only slightly overweight.
With dermabrasion, a non-surgical treatment option, the superficial skin layer is removed. This removal, which is also known as exfoliation, requires the removal of the dead skin, which causes fading, but fails to totally eliminate stretchmarks.
Different experts have different opinions about how well laser treatments work to heal stretch marks. Some doctors think that they can help to fade at least 50 percent of the intensity of the stretch marks, but others believe that they are not that helpful. All of them agree, however, that the laser treatment technology available today, however, won’t completely eliminate stretchmarks.
Avoid getting stretch marks as much as possible by keeping skin healthy and maintaining a healthy body weight. However, if you’re already beyond this, consider different ways to EliminateStretchmarks. Also, drink plenty of water; this will help to flush pores and keep the skin hydrated. Use quality lotions and creams for moisturizing, and use firming elements to keep the skin elastic so that stretch marks don’t develop.
